From Bitterleaf Teas

This is essentially the tea equivalent of getting punched in the face by an orchid. If that doesn’t sound like fun, then I don’t know what is.

A new standard in our collection, this gentleman is one of our 2 Jingmai offerings for this year, comprised of early spring, small-tree material. While big/old/gushu leaves might offer more subtle qualities of mouthfeel and smoothness, this tea proves that young trees have the energy and fight in them to knock you on your ass.

In this case that means a bold floral fragrance with a bit of that rough edge that Jingmai teas are known for.

A strong daily drinker, this tea also proves itself as a clear candidate for tong-ing.

Picking period: Pre-April 2

Grandpa Style!

Recently got my Spring Pu’erh order from Bitterleaf Teas and couldn’t resist dipping into it with some late afternoon Grandpa style in the office garden! As one would probably expect, given the name, this sheng is super floral – lots of fragrant fresh notes accompany the syrupy liquor and pleasant astringency; I cannot wait to see how this develops. Most of this new pu’erh haul will rest a little longer, but since I blind caked this spring pu’erh in addition to nabbing the sample I figured I’d crack into one of these dragon balls right away!
