From Bitterleaf Teas

Because we love this varietal so much, it’s hard to limit ourselves to just one Yashixiang/Duckshit fragrance Dancong. Although this is the more affordable of the two for this year, this tea should not be underestimated, as it easily stands out when compared to other examples in this price range.

Being one of the more common and prolific varietals of Dancong, the quality range for Yashixiang can be quite big. This tea serves as an excellent representative of the distinct floral quality this varietal is known for, while also offering a pleasant sweetness and balanced flavour.

We strongly recommend comparing this side by side with its high mountain counterpart to experience the differences in mouthfeel and texture. This comparison also highlights this tea’s value though, which handily makes its home in the upper end of the daily drinker category.

Nice daily drinker. Nothing too special but still nice.

A mediocre Dancong. I got this tea from my recent BLT order, and it really isn’t much good. Beautiful leaves and potent wet leaf aroma, while packing a decent and pleasant flavour. However, this tea has a thin texture and an overtly drying finish, not much character and complexity and a lack of cha-qi. For a dancong, this tea is also unable to handle too many steeps as well, which is a bummer. Don’t recommend buying this tea, it’s better to put your money elsewhere.
