Jingmai Shengtai Pu-erh tea - Spring 2015

The 2015 version of our Jingmai Shengtai is very balanced. It is processed slightly redder than last year, revealing slight fruity notes along with plenty of jingmai typical fragrance. The aroma is powerful; some pleasant bitterness is present from the start and sustained through the infusions. The feeling is energizing and sweetness build up in the mouth along the session.

This Pu-erh tea was processed by Yubai and her family from their own natural tea gardens, located on the main plateau of Jingmai Mountain, at an altitude of about 1500m. Life is thriving in those gardens, it is common to be wrapped in spider nets or surprised by a stealthy praying mantis while harvesting tea. Those natural predators are the main defense against pest attacks. Shade trees were planted in 2010, the biodiversity increases as they grow and many ecosystem services are brought as a result of their presence. Those 40 years old tea gardens are believed to equal the taste of the ancient tea garden leaves in a couple of decades, which is why the locals strive to develop a natural ecosystem in them.
This tea can withstand over 8 infusions, bitterness leaving place to sweetness as the session goes on.
