This tea cake is one of the Yunnan Seven-son series manufactured by the China National Native Produce and Animal By-products Import & Export Corporation between 1970’s and 1990’s. To distinguish a Yunnan Seven-son teacake from another Seven-son teacake, tea vendors sometimes would give the cake a specific name, in this case “Dahuazi.
“Hua” rhymes with the Chinese character for smooth. The name Dahuazi describes the smoothness that this tea offers. Exceptionally clean, this 1996 ripe Pu-erh is pure and lush and leaves a soothing and lasting coolness that coats your mouth. The tea leaves are golden brown and brewed tea is bright and almost sparkling, both an indication of high-quality manufacturing. The tea sustains its richness even after the 10th infusion. This is a fine quality ripe Pu-erh that is hard to come by. Drink it all day long and you still will yearn for more.
