Earl Grey Sterling is a dramatic and elegant twist on classic Earl Grey. It is a blend of Sri Lankan black tea (“Ceylon”), Chinese black tea, bergamot essence and gorgeous sterling Yin Zhen (or “silver needle” white tea buds). The leaves charm not only with their dashing appearance, but with their aroma, which has notes of lemon zest, bergamot and a peppery, pine-like sharpness. When brewed, Sterling Earl Grey becomes a coppery, amber infusion with a bright, citrus-spice aroma of similar to the leaves, but also with cinnamon, clove and light, flowery top notes. Its bold, zesty flavor is true to the aroma, and hints at unripe tangerine and white flowers. It has medium tannins and is absent of the sticky-sweet notes some Earl Grey teas carry. A bold, citrus-tannin finish rounds out this incomparable tea.

Steepster continues to be flaky on my likes. I thought I had identified the cause—I thought it didn’t like me “liking” on my phone or tablet, but this morning I noticed I had the same issue when liking on my computer. Then I thought perhaps it was a browser issue so I tried a different one but it continues to be unpredictable. Sorry if I missed anyone. Sigh.
I continue to have very pleasant interactions with this tea. If this tea had a personality, it would be outgoing and warm but not pushy or brash. It’s very inviting, particularly first thing in the morning. On a clean palate, the tea base’s flavor is easily accessible. I’m get the peppery note in the description today. It’s a great wake-up tea.
If it wasn’t for the fact I prefer the Shanghai version, I would run immediately to put this on the shopping list.
ETA: This really deserves a better rating. Just because I’m not buying it doesn’t mean it isn’t excellent. Remedying that now.

I haven’t had a chance to truly savour it, and I added milk just to see what it was like that way, and well it isn’t good! I liked it much better without. It’s almost pu’erh like, which makes me think that maybe the milk is turning. I need to try it again without, and a touch of agave.
So…. it isn’t fair for me to rate this one just yet.
