This was definitely fruity, but it also had a bit of a bitter herbal note in the aftertaste that I didn’t enjoy. It also had a STRONG aroma, which my husband did not appreciate.

Cold steeped.

This one smells and tastes like pineapple gummy bears to me. Which, in my somewhat limited experience, is not what dragonfruit tastes like. To be fair though, I found dragonfruit to have a somewhat subtle flavor, so maybe it’s a bit difficult to reproduce in tea.

So in short, this isn’t bad, but it tastes very artificial to me, just like pineapple gummy bears. And I think it could use a bit more tartness to add some dimension. There’s also a hint of bitterness that I’m not loving.

Ha yes, every time I buy a dragonfruit and take my first bite, I’m like oh yeah, slightly sweet water.

I really love the fruitiness of this one. Sweet with a hint of tartness. Really, really good!

I’ve worked through all the caffeinated teas in my swap with Emilie, so I’m taking a caffeine break for a couple weeks per doctor’s orders (blech). Thankfully, I have lot of teas to get me through thanks to some very generous tea mail from vallhallow. I’ve been saving these and am excited to finally dig in.

James’ favorite tea ever is Magic Dragon from DAVIDsTEA. Since it’s been discontinued, I would love to find another blend that’s similar. I was hoping this would be it, or close, but it’s not close enough. We tried them side-by-side and he said that the Dragon Fruit Dream doesn’t have enough hibiscus. It’s noticeably lighter in color, more of a soft pink than the deep red of hibiscus. I tried it both hot and cold and I can’t say that I’m a fan honestly. Of course, hibiscus teas aren’t a favorite hot and can be hit or miss for me when cold. This had that dusty background note that so many herbals seem to share. James liked it cold, so he’s planning to finish it off. This is one I might have purchased to try at some point, seeing that it has dragon fruit, so I’m glad to be able to try it before buying a larger amount.

Have you managed to get some of the fireweed? Just curious :)

Not yet, but I have some picked out for my next order. I appreciate the reminder, I think I’ll go ahead and purchase since I’ve started drinking caffeine-free for a bit.

I got the iced tea version of this tea. I wish I had just gotten the regular version of it… It was a smaller amount for the same price. It was about 8 tsp if you want the same amount as an iced tea pouch. Tried it a few different ways. The way that worked the best for me was to cold brew it for 15 hours or more. I would pop a bag into a quart mason Jar and all the flavors came through.

The flavor is pretty light. If I had to guess, I’d say the flavor is melon, but maybe I could buy that it’s dragon fruit? It really needs a touch of sugar to bring out the flavor. Cool, it’s pretty pleasant and not at all sour. Each cup I have of this is better than the last.
