From Adagio Teas

Masala chai spices in a South African honeybush herb base, with a hint of pumpkin. This blend of honeybush, cinnamon bark, cardamom, ginger root, cocoa nibs & safflower is sure to delight. Beautiful clear and bright cup, with a crisp and tangy-sweet flavor. The heat of the spices is balanced beautifully with the natural smooth, mellow quality of the honeybush. Naturally caffeine-free for an anytime treat. We suggest two heaping teaspoons per 6 oz cup. Sugar, cream or soy if desired.

Ingredients: Honeybush Tea, Cinnamon, Cardamom, Ginger Varietal, Cocoa Nibs, Natural Pumpkin Spice Flavor & Safflower

Sip Down/Backlog

I thought that this was going to be much stronger than the mug offered. The dry material was quite spice heavy; unfortunately, the flavor fell short. I left my tea bag in the cup the second time around and it still didn’t give out much flavor…Light spices and no hint of the honeybush.

The cardamom is strong with this one. I don’t hate it but I find it to be a flavor that reallly need to be balanced well. Like cilantro. Of course, cilantro also tastes like soap to me so… Ew cilantro tea…. gag. Anyway, this one is… okay. the rooibos is a bit subdued and I’m not really sure I like the addition of the cocoa nibs. But ultimately it’s the cardamom that keeps winding all the flavors back to it.

Sipdown! (18 | 333)

To me, this one doesn’t really taste like pumpkin spice. Mostly I get strong candy cinnamon paired with clove, and the combination reminds me of the way Hobby Lobby stores smell in the fall and winter LOL.

It’s certainly not bad, but I don’t see how there’s anything pumpkin spice about it. It’s more of a hot cinnamon spice sort of tea IMO.

Have you seen Harney’s new Haunting in Venice tea? I am tempted but the ginger might be too much for me. I don’t usually go for much pumpkin spice but that one does sound a little tempting.

Cameron B.

Ooooh why must you tempt me, ha ha. I actually do need to restock a couple of things from Harney…

Heh heh buy it and let me know if it is too gingery!

This was the first tea in the Adagio advent. It was nice and subtle spiced with a hint of sweetness. I just don’t gravitate towards honeybush enough to grab more.

Day 1 of Advent Calendar. Good for a chai but nothing in the flavors that screams pumpkin anything

Roswell Strange

In general, pumpkin Chai blends rarely have any pumpkin in them since they’re just pumpkin spice based. It’s a common misconception that pumpkin spice uses pumpkins in it – but it’s just naked that way since it’s the traditional spice mix used to season pumpkin pie.

FairyPrime

Yeah thats what i meant was the spices didn’t make me think of pie at all and as you said a bit too much ginger

Adventaggedon Day One – Tea 3/5

It’s honestly kind of weird that this is the first year I’ve done the Adagio advent calendar. Other than DT, I feel like they’re the tea company that has been releasing one the longest. Only other company that comes to mind that could maybe give that a run for its money is Bird & Blend – but I’m not awake enough right now to try and fact check myself on that right now. Anyway, I’m finally doing it now!

I actually ended up with two advents today that featured pumpkin teas, which I thought was weird. Though, if you’re going to include a pumpkin blend I suppose I prefer you do it early and get it out of the way before that festive mood really sets in. This was intriguing to me too because I love Adagio’s honeybush base, but generally don’t particularly love pumpkin spices. The first thing that I noticed about this blend, though, was that it was pretty clove forward. Clove is one of those spices that most people seem to think they dislike but, when mixed with other spices, actually enjoy more than they expect to. In North America, anyway. I feel like I’m one of the outliers in the fact that I actually enjoy that taste of clove on its own a lot. So, a Pumpkin Chai that’s heavy on the clove? Perfection!

The honeybush was also really nice and, though the next most prominent spice was ginger (not a favourite), it ended up being a pretty nice cup of tea overall. I think I’d actually probably much rather have this over the more traditional black tea based Pumpkin Chai.

Flavorful with cinnamon dominating. You can taste the other ingredients like ginger and cardamom, but it tips strongly toward cinnamon. The saffron was a nice addition to add richness to the flavor, rounding it out as well as adding an auburn color. This has a wonderful aroma in the bag and in the cup!

Another sipdown from my decaf cupboard

I’ve already reviewed this tea I believe, but since I left this cup too long and it cooled down I’m doing to write another one for drinking it cold. I get lots of standard chai spice (peppercorn, ginger, cardamom, cinnamon) and the honeybush is lovely. The honeybush is less sweet than usual, and I don’t get as much piumpkin spice flavour at the bottom of the bag. This is possibly because the bottom of my pouch had a lot of the heavier spices and less honeybush.

It is a solid chai, especially for a herbal tisane base. I will buy it again when I order from adagio, but it doesn’t stand out as much as the banana nut (my favourite adagio tea so far) or the vanilla rooibos chai.

Flavors: Cardamom, Cinnamon, Ginger, Spices, Spicy, Wood

AJRimmer

Yesssss banana nut. Me too.

Surprisingly fruity. The spices are definitely more muted than I’d expect. It’s not bad, it’s just not at all what I was looking for.
