From Adagio Teas

Turmeric is a spice closely related to ginger. Similarly to ginger, the root is thick and pronged, though the inner flesh has a distinctive orangey-yellow color compared to ginger’s yellowish-white. Turmeric is popular in both Asian and African cuisine, where it is used in curries, rice dishes, and baked goods, as well as juices, cakes, yogurts, dairy products, and drinks. Turmeric has a pungent, earthy-sweet taste with a slightly peppery finish.

Origin: India | We recommend referring to a healthcare practitioner before using herbs and spices, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, or on any medications.

Day 10 of DIY (mostly) Adagio advent calendar. Technically this is Selefina, but since that’s just Adagio’s spice division I think of it as being from the same company. I’ve played around with this a couple of different ways. As a straight tisane, it’s earthy and peppery, with a ginger-like bite at the end of the sip. A dash of honey rounded out the flavor nicely.
