I prepared this one for strength, so the lime and base have an edge of tart green bitterness that translates a little into tonic fizz. The melon flavouring sometimes drifts into tasting like a less flavourful melon or cantaloupe (think those blah white edges close to the skin), but it also does a fine job tasting like a watery but sweet watermelon. The lime pleasantly comes out more as the cup cools, and the bitterness fades away almost completely.

It’s a pretty nice summer blend, but I won’t lie and say I wasn’t hoping for something more along the lines of Butiki’s Watermelon Xylophone. The loose leaf smelled so good.

ah how I miss Butiki teas and most importantly my Good Morning Sunshine blend… I still can’t find a good replacement.

I may miss the Butiki guayusa blends most of all. Still looking for Killer’s Vanilla and Good Morning Sunshine replacements too.

At the Bay by my work, there is a FoodMart that I often go to for lunch and they have vats of aqua fresca everywhere. They change up the fruits and vegetables that are infused and they are often quite nice (though I don’t get it much given my coworker bitches at me about it and it’s just not worth listening to).

This, however, tastes just as I’d imagine a watermelon aqua fresca would taste, subtle with a touch of lime and an underlying watermelon note. It’s really good and effectively captures the flavor of its namesake yet I wonder if it’s worth buying more than just the sample or if I should just drop actual watermelon, lime, and mint in water? Hmm…

How dare your coworker rain on your agua fresca parade! I hate that.

I had to look up Aqua Fresca to know what it was… But I don’t know why your coworker is being a pain about it. Ah well everyone has to bitch about something I suppose.
