Chocolate Chocomint Rooibos

I’m not sure what to think of this one. It is pleasant. The mint is certainly present, but not toothpaste-y, if you know what I mean. For me the chocolate was missing. Which is strange, because I know I saw the chocolate in the leaf when i put it in the T sac. I still have plenty of it left, so we’ll see what the next cup is like. I am giving this a tentative rating of 75. May possibly go up after another trial

I am once again afflicted with Sipdown Fever (brought on by an embarrassing amount of autumnal teas winging their way to me). Plus I’m determined to drink more evening teas!
So last night I had a rummage through my samples bowl, which is now so large that its become a samples pile. After sifting out the likely candidates, I settled on this one. I was feeling adventurous.
Chocolate tea, while a thing I should like, is not exactly my thing. They just never taste right to me, and I’m always disappointed. But, this is chocolate and mint, two favorite flavors in the outside world, and it was caffeine free. But it was a rooibos, a tea base that I have a hit and miss relationship with.
And you know what? After my trepidation that I wouldn’t like it at all, due to rooibos and chocolate, it wasn’t actually bad. I found it a little weak, as I often do with chocolate teas, and the rooibos was perhaps a touch too strong for the base, but it was generally pleasant.
Its the sort of thing that I don’t think I’ll order, but it was nice to try!
And, importantly, a sipdown!

sample from an order from forever and a day ago. This one isn’t bad, but it’s very minty and not as much chocolate as i’d like to see. That’s not to say it’s bad, i do like the rooibos in this but it’s more mint than chocolate mint. And is still not contest for peppermint patty. heh

So I managed to catch a bug over New Years, so there was a definite delay on shipping as I got over that. Took advantage of my taste buds being deadend and consumed more that my fair share of spicy teas, though.

Anyway, my sister is way better at finding nifty things on Etsy than me. She got me some Pokémon bath bombs for the holidays that I couldn’t wait to try.

So the Nidoran I caught in my first bomb is chilling here with me and a cup of tea now.

I really like the strong vanilla notes in here. I don’t care for the cedar flavor that some rooibos seems to have and I’ve found vanilla to really temper that and make it a much smoother cup.

That said this tea reminds me of an oreo mint brownie or something of that sort with that vanilla cream note balanced with mint and chocolate.

Perfect way to wrap up this week.

Thin mints! This absolutely tastes like a tea version of the perennial Girl Scouts favorite. A splash of rice milk adds creaminess that really takes the blend over the top, but it’s not necessary. Thank you to Quarter to Tea for the review sample! I am way behind on tasting notes because I am moving, but I wanted to get this up before the Black Friday sale goes live so I can tell everyone how impressed I am with the blends I’ve tried so far from Quarter. I am limiting my tea orders this week to no more than four companies and this is one of them (TeaVivre is another, the rest are still TBD).
