I don’t know what Irish cream is supposed to taste like, but this turned out to be a delicious chocolate teas. I really like how 52teas balances chocolate teas. It’s almost as satisfying as a hot chocolate with a pleasant black base and a very authentic chocolate. The second time I had this wasn’t quite as amazing as the first, but still quite pleasant sweetened with milk. This one also resteeps super well.

(52teas (Anne) 2022: 276)

Definitely got an irish cream vibe from this tea, which has me very pleased, although the base was a bit rougher than my preference would be (I don’t think I oversteeped, but not sure). I did pick up the cacao nibs in the tea, which I’m not a huge fan of (prefer cacao shell, which is also present), but it wasn’t overwhelming. This comes in as my second-favourite irish cream tea, second to a tea I got in an Amoda sub box eons ago and somewhat recently finished off. Can’t recall the name offhand, but just thinking of it makes me salivate a bit. This tea could possibly get there with different brewing parameters, so I’m excited to play around.

February 2022 Tea Reblend

I’m still getting the feel for this chocolate-y Irish Cream flavoured black tea, but it seems fitting to make a cup of this on St. Patrick’s Day! The black tea blend is complex – also, vanilla is life right now (and makes this tea count towards “floral” month).

No partying or festivities today though, beyond drinking this tea. Tomorrow is my nephew’s 2nd birthday (the one who also loves tea and who gave me plague during Christmas break), so I best save my energy for that!
