Tea of the Week for December 27, 2021!

This blend starts with our classic green tea base of organic Chun Mee & Gunpowder teas. I added a bunch of coconut, some dried lime wedges & a touch of essence to create a soft, dreamy cookie-ish flavor. This tastes as though someone liquified a coconut lime snowball cookie & added it to my green tea!

It’s also organic, vegan, gluten-free, allergen-free (unless you’re allergic to coconut, in which case, don’t drink this tea because there absolutely IS coconut in it!) & all natural!

more about this tea: I absolutely LOVE how this tea turned out. It is beyond what I expected from it: bright lime notes, creamy coconut & just a hint of sweet cookie-ish flavor as a note of green tea shines through – all in one sip. It’s everything I want from an afternoon cuppa: it’s sweet but with a nice, bright tartness to contrast the sweetness, it’s creamy, it’s DREAMY!

organic ingredients: green teas, coconut, limes & natural flavors

to brew: shake the pouch to distribute ingredients. Use 2 ½ grams of leaf & fruit to 12 oz very hot water (175°F) & steep for 2 minutes. strain.

serving suggestion: I like this one served hot – it makes me think of hot tea & warm cookies on a winter-y afternoon. It’s also really good iced – if you want an iced tea – try cold-brewing this! YUM!

AJRimmer Advent Day 20

I appreciate how this advent calendar is helping me try new things and get more variety into my tea-drinking diet! I tend to rotate between my favorite black tea and white tea blends, but I’ve been drinking a lot more green tea this month thanks to AJRimmer. :) (Plus matcha and puerh, which are WAY outside my comfort zone and provided some happy surprises!)

All that to say: this is a good tea, but definitely not what I would normally have reached for…especially on such a cold, grey Wisconsin winter day! The green tea base is nice and smooth and the lime flavor is strong and clear (almost too sharp and acidic for me). I wish there were a bit more coconut here to smooth things out a bit. It didn’t quite hit the spot today, but I could see myself really enjoying this iced on a sunny summer day!

I thought I wouldn’t be into this, but it’s actually pretty refreshing cold. The coconut and lime mix together well, and this green tea is the perfect base for it. I taste a little bit of something else…maybe a roastiness? It’s an interesting combination.

One of my many fridge brew casualties from the last week (ie – I mindlessly chugged this down because it was cold and there). Fab lime flavour that could veer into nippy rind territory if left for too long (but still refreshing). Tastes and smells a bit like a citrusy tropical drink, veering into acidic territory. Very refreshing with those + 30°C/86°F days. It will be missed but I luckily have more citrusy/tropical fruit goodness from 52Teas and other vendors.

I woke this morning to find a layer of snow outside… and it is still gently falling. I am not a fan of snow even when it is seasonally appropriate, so seeing it after Spring Equinox has my eyelid twitching in annoyance. Then the cat left me presents from both ends on the carpet to clean up this morning, so now I’m officially in a mood. Using this tea for the prompt “a tea paired to the weather.”

This is the sort of flavor combo I typically cold brew, but given the weather, I brewed it warm today. The base green tea is fresh and grassy, and a little buttery. There is a strong citrus sharpness to the cup; it starts a little indistinct but about midsip it is undeniably lime, leaving a strong aftertaste on the tongue. As always, the coconut in this 52Teas blend is fresh, noticable, and lovely, and is perhaps playing into the butteriness I’m getting from the green teas.

It’s delicious, and considering how often I make “Lime in the Coconut” smoothies for breakfast, I was expecting this flavor combo to be a winner for me. I would still prefer it cold brewed, so I’ll probably save the rest of the packet for after the weather has stopped being so tempermental.

I need to know more about your “Lime in the Coconut” smoothies! That sounds so good. I’m a boring strawberry/banana sort of person because those are mostly easily on hand and loved by toddler/husband, but I would love to branch out.

Mastress Alita

I always have a smoothie for breakfast; I put a teaspoon of matcha in them and typically don’t taste the matcha, but it helps “get me going” in the morning. I have to get creative with smoothies since every smoothie recipe ever includes banana, which is the one food I cannot tolerate in any capacity. For “Lime in the Coconut” I use a cup of coconut milk, a cup of mango, a teaspoon of matcha, half a cup of yogurt (plain or vanilla), and a tablespoon of lime juice.

Kittenna

Oooh, mango. I wouldn’t have thought of that! This sounds delicious; I’m missing most of the ingredients right now but will have to try it soon!

Mastress Alita

I just use frozen mango out of a bag in the freezer section of the grocery. It comes out pretty creamy!

This is from my first order from 52teas. I heard a lot of good things about them and am excited to try more in the future.

Preparation: Western
Tasting Note: I am enjoying this tea so far. It is bright but also a little pithy from the lime. I makes me think of a green earl grey in a way. I think this was the first time I have had dehydrated lime in a tea and I really liked it. I taste a little coconut creaminess when the tea cools down quite a bit.

This tea is really good! A nice fluffy, coconutty lime, with a nice base. The resteep wasn’t great but it was also a day later, and greens don’t always last (and, my cold was setting in by then). Really like this one… maybe I’ll pick up another.

Crowkettle

This one seriously tests my New Year imposed tea-buying hiatus.. I wasn’t expecting my weakness, lime flavour, to strike me in the winter lol.

Kittenna

Hahahaha. Yeah, I wasn’t really trying to not order more stuff as well, but unless this sells out before I get to it…

52Teas

Only a few taster pouches of this one left. :)

Crowkettle

I’m being so good still.. (lime AND coconut.together) D:

This is the tea of the week for this week (wow, look at Anne. she is on time! What’s happening right now?)

I love this tea. Yes, it’s another coconut tea, but you know what? It tastes amazing so I’m good with that. The lime & coconut taste so good together. The background notes are hints of sweet cookie with the light sweetness of the green tea. Everything about this tea is just delightful.
