A White Tea w/Carrots & Carrot Cake Essence

This blend might be a very literal interpretation of a tea for the White Rabbit from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland but it’s so tasty! I think that in this case, going to an obvious interpretation was the right way to go!

In the past, I’ve done a few carrot/carrot cake-ish type blends, but this one is – in my opinion – the best I’ve done thus far. The carrot cake flavor is THERE – I taste the notes of carrot and a bit of spice cake. I even get a bit of tangy cream cheese frosting.

The secret, I think, is with the base. I used a beautiful, fluffy white Bai Mu Dan tea. The flavor is soft and delicate and it allows the carrot cake flavors to do their thing . . . .without masking the notes of the gentle white tea. The result is a soft, sweet tea that tastes like carrot cake. It’s really quite lovely. So good, in fact, that I think it might be something worth being a bit late for!

A gluten-free, allergen-free & VEGAN tea blend!

ingredients: white tea

organic ingredients: Carrots & natural flavors

Day 16 of our Advent Tea Swap. From amandastory516.

This tea is beautiful! I don’t drink white teas often, so I forget how stunning they can be. The leaves are twisty and fuzzy, with colors ranging from soft and pale celery to dark and brooding umber. There are pieces of bright orange carrot mixed throughout. I’m not necessarily getting the cake or spice, but the carrot is quite noticeable in both flavor and aroma.

W is for… White Rabbit’s Tea!

(My packet does not include the “The”, so this tea falls under W.) I found it interesting that most of the W 52teas I had left to drink were white teas! 3 of ‘em. Anyhow, this tea was ok and I caught just a hint of carrot cakey spicing… but that’s about it.

It is an interesting concept and seeing little chunks of carrots in a tea pouch is quite charming. The tea smelled and tasted rather muted and it was reminiscent not so much of a carrot cake but of a lemon cake. It has a nice balance of sweetness and lemony sourness with just a tiny hint of carrot. A clean, fresh taste that lasts.

This tea did not do much for me but I generally prefer a more robust base for desert teas than the white tea. Still, it was a nice change of pace.

Sounds interesting! Rabbit chasing here (pun intended), but this weekend, we had carrot cake at a local barbecue watering hole that had pineapple and coconut in it as well—that was a new combination for me, but oh, my ears and whiskers, it was tasty! Around here (Midwest), carrot cake might have raisins along with the walnuts, but that’s all.
