From 52teas

I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve got a serious case of the winter blues. I’m ready for springtime and iced tea. So I decided maybe I could fool myself with a nice tropical blend for our tea of the week.

Sweet papaya with tart black currant and our amazing naturally buttery-sweet Chinese sencha. Give me a big glass of this with lots of ice and let me pretend it’s springtime already.

This blend has REAL dried black currants and freeze-dried papaya pieces!

I’m hoping my order from 52teas arrives today…someday I’ll learn to click the “package tracking” button so I can obsessively visit USPS and find out where it is. In anticipation of that order, I’m drinking this gem of Frank’s, sent my way by LiberTEAS.

Increased the brewing time on this, and am really enjoying it. Seems fruitier/bolder. Not sure if this is one I’ll invest in, since there’s so many others I want to try, but this is just plain good.

I have never had green tea… so I was glad when I was able to get this from Frank in his “really messed up” week. Smelling it there was a hint of spice which I think is from the mango but it smelled very fresh and clean.

I brewed it up making sure to pay attention to how long to steep it and smelled it again it was very fruity smelling which I like with a bit of greenery. On first taste it was very mild. I decided that I was going to put it over ice because I thought the delicate flavors would be very refreshing. Boy was I right… I love this over ice, it has a hint of sweetness along with the butteryness and it is just delightful! I think that I really like green teas that are fruity! Yum yum.

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these but I miss tealogging! It’s a cold day so I figured some of this tea would be perfect to warm me up.

The color is a nice amber gold color, and it smells tropical. The most prominent flavor I get is the green tea, which is a little bitter (maybe the water was a little too hot… oops!). I do taste the black currant but the papaya is not really there. I’m also a little unfamiliar with papaya’s flavor.

This tea is still really delicious, but I’m not surprised since it is from 52teas.

Wishing this was Japanese sencha in base… does anyone else find that mango and papaya type fruits come off tasting strawberry/watermelony in tea? W/ the currant I was worried it’d taste like really watered down hot kool aid, but I can definitely taste the sencha.

Cofftea

2nd infusion, 4min. Nearly the same as the 1st infusion.

Cofftea

3rd infusion, 5min. Much lighter liquor- a buttery canary yellow. Less fruit, more green tea.

No. 2 of my tea of the week from @52teas. I love this tea. It’s sweet but not overpowering. The green tea is subtle and doesn’t overpower the delicate fruit flavours. A long steep is needed. Current and papaya seem to be a great combo.

It reminds me of the nice feeling you get when drinking hot black current with a sore throat.

I really like black current teas and finally found one in the green tea. Thank you 52teas.com. The flavor is beyond what I had hoped for. The blending of flavor never gets old. I usually leave my tea leaves in my cup and just add water to it all day long. I like to get the tannins out of the tea leaves most people take the leaves out too soon says it makes the tea too bitter well, if you want the healthy aspect of tea drink it bitter.
