Yeah, I’m a Guns N’ Roses fan. (My family will tell you that’s a bit of an understatement.)

That said, I didn’t actually create this tea with Guns N’ Roses in mind – I happened to have some Thyolo OP1 Green Tea from the Satemwa Estate in Malawi on hand and in it’s pure state, this tea has a naturally citrus-y fruit note that makes it the perfect base for a fruity blend. So I decided to go with Mango (a favorite of mine) and add some coconut (another favorite) and then, to meld with that natural citrus tone of the base tea, I decided to add some lime. Originally, I was going to name it something tropical but I did a tropical tea last month, so I thought – how about Jungle?

And when I think “Jungle” – my mind starts hearing that Axl howl at the beginning of Welcome to the Jungle. And so I decided that I’d call this tropical fruit flavored tea Welcome to the Jungle.

As I stated above, I started with a Thyolo OP1 Green base – it’s fair-traded and Rainforest Alliance certified – and I added mango, lime and coconut. It’s sweet, tart and delightfully fruity. It’s so good that you might find yourself wanting to do the serpentine dance!

ingredients: green tea, freeze-dried mango*, coconut*, dried lime segments and natural flavors*.

Sipdown 28

This will be the beginning of my fourth week of drinking green and oolong teas—as opposed to my ongoing black and oolong tea habitual practice. We are strange creatures. The plus of this new pattern, of course, is that I now have a completely new cupboard with fresh—to me despite their age—choices.

This last cup was slightly overleafed but perfect, nonetheless. All flavours—mango, coconut, lime, buttery and hearty green base— beautifully balanced. A magnificent goodbye.

I would happily have this one pass my way again.

And it’s a sipdown!
