From 52teas

A Very Limited Edition V.I.T. (Very Important Tea!)

This is a VIT blend – crafted using Dragon Well tea as the base – and flavored with pineapple and spiced up a bit with Aleppo and smoked chili peppers and just a hint of toasted, crushed cumin seed. The heat starts out gentle but hits you in the back of the throat pretty early, giving you a steady, warm burn that feels oh-so-good! The sweetness from the pineapple offers a really nice contrast to the heat from the pepper and the smoky tones are mild.

Large Size is approximately 1 1/2 ounce.

organic ingredients: dragon well tea, freeze-dried pineapple pieces. crushed aleppo pepper, smoked chili pepper flakes, toasted cumin seed and natural flavors.

Another 52Teas blend from a while ago that I never wrote a tasting note for. I should love this one as it is pineapple and spicy on a lovely dragonwell. Again, to be fair, this isn’t the freshest blend I have from 52Teas but it’s still delicious. I think the pineapple pieces should have been bigger! Somehow the heat isn’t noticeable enough for me here. I hope the pepper flavors don’t disappear in teas over time, as they age. I like my teas spicy when they should be spicy! But I like the overall result here. The dragonwell really takes over the flavor anyway.

MrQuackers

It’s a shame to waste high quality tea that was meant to be appreciated. There are plenty of fruity blends out there. I don’t know 52 teas was thinking

MissB

I hate to suggest another company’s teas in a comment, but…. if you want spicy, try Kapha from TeaGschwendner.

LiberTEAS

MrQuackers: I was thinking about fulfilling a request that a customer made. :) This was a custom made tea.

MissB — I believe YOU sent Kapha to me a while back. :D

MrQuackers

Liberteas: I guess if you had to choose between killing a customer or using Dragonwell in a blend, then it’s ok. But I draw the line at requests for orange coolaid flavoured $72 / 20g matcha.

52Teas

MrQuackers: She was one of our very generous contributors to our Kickstarter campaign. Without contributions from her and others like her, we wouldn’t have been able to take over 52Teas so I honor most requests. I don’t flavor Matcha – it’s too messy, too expensive and the margin that I’d have to mark it up to make a profit would be so much that I doubt I’d get many takers so I don’t see the point. I like my Matcha unflavored or if I want flavor to it, I’ll mix it with coconut water or another specialty water to give it flavor.

The name of this tea beckons me. Though I’ve been on a bit of a black tea roll lately, I picked this up the other day.

So lovely. When I was drinking this, I found the green tea base so buttery, so very buttery, supported by gentle pineapple and marshmallow flavours. Beautiful.

Perhaps I need to be giving the dry leaf in the pouch a bit more of a shake to include the zing of pepper. I am not feeling any heat from the pepper as is. No matter. Perhaps the blast will come.

A slight segue. People have been speculating whether 52Teas will create a tea to honour Carrie Fisher. I have been wondering what flavours 52Teas would include if she were to create a tea in tribute to Carrie Fisher. What would the tea be called? What flavours would best depict this woman who was both a fierce role model for young women and a fearless champion of mental health, amongst all her other glorious attributes?

I think it’d be a white or yellow tea with cacao nibs and mallow root.
Thank you Evol!!! <3

LiberTEAS

As this is the first I’ve heard about it, might I inquire who has been speculating about a tea to honor Carrie Fisher?

Evol Ving Ness

Local tea-drinking peeps here who connect offsite, ie. off steepster.

Evol Ving Ness

Casual conversation about whether that would happen, so I thought I’d put it out there.

LiberTEAS

Ah – OK! Quite alright that you’re speculating – I appreciate it greatly. I haven’t yet decided – however, before I do, I would need to craft an Alan Rickman tea because – Snape.

Evol Ving Ness

Alan Rickman. sigh

Maddy Barone

Oh, yes. Alan Rickman. Something dark and rich?

Indigobloom

Alan Rickman yes! and perhaps Willi Wonka?

Nattie

There have been so many sad deaths this year ):

apieceofquiche
