Tea of the Week for May 20, 2024!
I recently procured a lovely, single-estate Fujian black tea from one of my suppliers & after tasting it, I knew I wanted to blend this as a cherry flavored tea. The base had a natural dark chocolate flavor to it, and I imagined how well dark cherries & maybe a little bit of marshmallow-y flavor would work with it.
That is to say, this blend sort of created itself – the natural flavors of the black tea base spoke to me and told me what it wanted to be.
The result: total deliciousness! The marshmallow notes lend a fluffy, creamy note to the cup, while the cherry is sweet with a hint of tart & absolutely lovely! Together with the Fujian black tea base – the overall cup is a little bit chocolatey with cherry notes and marshmallow – it tastes kind of like a chocolate covered cherry – only better!
ingredients: black tea
organic ingredients: marshmallow root, cherries & natural flavors
to brew: shake the pouch before measuring. Use 3g of tea to 12oz of near boiling water (205°F) & steep for 3 ½ minutes. Strain & allow to cool for about 10 minutes.
serving suggestion: I’ve tried this both hot & cold – and i think I prefer it hot. It’s good cold too – and would make a stunning cold brew. It doesn’t need sweetener – I think there’s a nice, natural sweetness to it that doesn’t need additional sweetener.
I absolutely LOVE this tea. The natural chocolate-y notes of the Fujian black tea with the cherry & marshmallow is heavenly! Like a chocolate covered cherry – only better!
