Made this into an iced tea for myself in this cool yunomi cup I picked up while I’m here on vacation. It has a loot to it that makes me think of tall blades of rich, green summer grass. Very prairie summer vibe, to me at least. I’ve actually nabbed a lot of ceramics while on vacation. More than I’d planned to.
The tea was great. I think I made my concentrate a little strong for the cup size, but that’s on me for eyeballing instead of measuring. Even so, the sweet jammy deep purple berry notes and pop of hibiscus tartness were sooooo refreshing. Saskatchewan is in the middle of a heat wave right now, so the last week has just been sweltering hot from early morning up until late day.

When I saw a vendor at the farmer’s market selling Saskatoon Berry tea I knew I had to pick some up for myself. The dry leaf was surprisingly fresh smelling with an almost fermented sourness to it – definitely from the surprisingly plump Saskatoon berries in the blend which don’t seem to have fully dried out. That said, it tasted lovely once brewed. Very bright and juicy with a lovely top note acidity and tartness followed by deeper, jammy berry notes. A pretty good depiction of these berries I love so much.
