They gave this to me at the tea festival as a sample, the green box from the pic that is. One of the better teas I’ve tasted from tea tang!
I expected a coppery mess, considering the package was free, and 20g… but no, I find it delightful and bright with a decent kick of caffeine though not the strongest I’ve had by any means.
I suppose this is what quality “copper” notes are supposed to be eh? It does taste very vaguely metallic, but not in the overpowering way I’ve experienced with other Ceylon teas. In fact, I would say it’s a balance of stone fruit, malt and copper that blend together so well its impossible to distinguish the lines. A complex tea, yay! Impressed. If I had more, it would even become a go to in my weekly rotations, and I don’t think I have EVER said that about a straight Ceylon…

This sounds tasty!

drank MANGO GINGER by Tea Tang

Made this for a friend and she loved it!
It brews up really strong, and she let it steep for a looooooong time. To each their own I suppose.

drank MANGO GINGER by Tea Tang

I tasted mostly ginger black tea. and oh boy is it satisfying. The base and ginger go so well together.
There is an essence of mango behind everything, but not a strong one and I don’t think I’d have picked out mango if it hadn’t been stated on the package. I do get the sense that it couldn’t be another fruit. Not sure if that is my brain being all prideful haha. Hmmm. I think if I steeped it for a very short period of time, I’d get more fruitiness. I’ll have to steal a spoonful as it brews next time.
Also loving that one tea pyramid bag is perfect for my two cup mug at work, and it does well with the hot water tap. No additives needed at all. The perfect tea when I need a pick me up. Seriously. For a low budget tea, I’m kinda impressed. For that reason alone, I am bumping the rating. Value for the win

drank Orange Ginger by Tea Tang

I saw the chiro yesterday. Because of all the work I did with the rmt, she was finally able to get at parts that were previously inaccessible. Yay! unfortunately, that means I’m in ouchie zombie walk mode today. and my neck is kinked (she also worked on my hyoid so I’m guessing my body is still adjusting to that). My fitbit doesn’t like me right now :P
So yeah, this kick in the pants tea is required! Ugh yes it is…
Now that I know to use an extra large mug for one bag, and to steep for under 2 min, it’s super tasty! but it looses potency after a few months. No hoarding for me :)

Hope you feel better soon. Epsom salts, lady. <3

Thanks Evol xo
I had two epsom baths already. Feeling less zombie. Still ouchie. I’ll take it if it means I’m healing!

drank Orange Ginger by Tea Tang

I was freezing in the office today and have been fighting a tickle in my throat for a few days already. This tea did a good job of soothing it. I need to use my larger mug though. The small one brewed up a tad too thick, but not overly so to the point of being too much. I finished the cup easily!

The orange was very faint, and more natural tasting than I expected. Sugar may have brought that aspect out more but I wasn’t in the mood.
The ginger part was a tad harsh as well. Almost chemical like, in the way I’ve seen ginger do in strong doses. I’m not sure if that means the ginger was low quality, or if it’s just me. One day I’ll splurge on organic premium ginger and see what that tastes like :P
What a strange contrast to the citrus.

Anyhow. I wish I could say more. It’s been a long day. I had plans lined up and it all got swooshed around for a bunch of reasons, and then additional to that I have some career decisions to make, that affect more than just myself or coworkers. Having to re-orient myself so many times has been exhausting. Is there a desert island out there somewhere that has all the tea, and couches on the beach to curl up on?

drank Banana Black by Tea Tang
1759 tasting notes

I was in a rush so didn’t have time to think about doing the correct ratio here… doh! but on a whim I decided to use chocolate milk. Knowing it’d be super weak with an extra large mug, I figured… it won’t be fantastic the normal way so why not give it a try!
THIS I would do again. It was delish. As expected, weak on the banana side… drowned out mostly by the chocolate. Oh well. It was still tasty!!

Hmmm. Banana flavour is pretty mild in this one. Then again I used only one teabag for a 12oz mug so I’ll have to try it later with a more traditional ratio. I find with teabags it generally doesn’t present an issue for me, as I just steep it a bit longer instead. It was verging on bitter so I added some milk and let the bag sit in a minute or so longer.
Anyhow, this pleasant enough for what I paid. Will write a more proper review later.
Also considering chocolate banana tea pops in the summer :P

drank Chai Tea by Tea Tang

Two bags in an extra large mug. I need to use it up!! the spices are fading even though I’ve got it in a tin.
Also, the coppery ceylon notes really shine today. Not sure I like that. Oh well. One bag next time.

Oh yes. So perfect.
Was feeling quite ick with a headache so I made this one and a matcha to have with my tylenol and cupcake! The whole combo really seemed to do the trick. I feel some residual tension hanging around, but nothing really compared to earlier.
I’m so glad I have this comfort tea around.

Evol Ving Ness

Tea, tylenol, cupcake! I adore you.

Indigobloom

oh and I added honey to my tea… I was feeling indulgent :P
I think cupcakes adore you too!! or they should, anyhow!

This is a pretty decent chai!
I picked it up because it was super affordable and I was lacking chai in my cupboard.
Having a bagged tea around is also really good for when I want tea but haven’t got time to wash my infuser. (or when I’m feeling super lazy :P )
This is the perfect balance of mild malty goodness and spice. A little too astringent but then I find Chai usually is because I oversteep it so that the cup will tolerate my addition of milk better. For some reason I tend to find the milk is too overpowering when made on a stovetop so adding a dash or two of milk is ideal for me.
Also, I sampled it before adding some milk and I suspect I’d really enjoy a full cuppa that way as well.
Something else that impressed me was the vacuum packed bag inside the box, and then the plastic sealing it overtop of the box! Ultimate freshness. Then again, it does say it was packaged Jan 29 2015. Bah. 20 bags for $2.50. I’m not complaining. Not yet anyhow!

drank Hillcrest Gold by Tea Tang

A pure Ceylon tea in tea bags; common to the island of Sri Lanka. I had a chance to try this tea when a co-worker, native to Sri Lanka, brought some back from a visit home. Its a good, medium body ceylon. Very generic…leads to guess that its a blend, but then again, I have never met a Ceylon tea that I didn’t like. Brews fast and brews dark, like the other Tea Tang teas from Sri Lanka.

drank Royal Tea B.O.P by Tea Tang

Royal Tea B.O.P [the blue tin] is a ceylon blend brought back from Sri Lanka by a workmate. This is advertised as a pure high grown ceylon blend and it delivers everything you’d expect. Brews clear and bright in the cup with a hit of red in the brown. Light in the mouth with a nice astringency and good flavor. A nice bite without being bitter.

The flavour is smooth with a bit of sweetness. This tea has small, broken leaves and tastes like many Ceylons is rather mild.
