VariaTEA provided this one to me. As i’d seen her tasting note on this, and seeing the tea itself, i knew i’d need to keep the steeping short. I had this one, steeped at about a min. So my cup was decent. copper notes, with a little astringency. Not my all time favourite ceylon or anything, but decent. That being said, i’ve only found a couple ceylons i’ve ever truly fallen in love with. I can’t imagine brewing it for any longer as this is a really strong tea. I’m thinking this might be up omgsrsly’s alley.
thanks variaTEA!
My friend went to Indonesia last year and brought me a 6-pack of teas. Unfortunately they are all plain black ceylons which just isn’t my favorite. I decided I should grab one though and give it a try given this has been hanging out in my stash forever and has never been touched. Now that I am trying it, I am not liking it. This tea is brisk. Like grow-hair-on-your-chest strong. I will try one of the others but I have a feeling that these just aren’t for me :(.
An amazing and unique tea. At least from those that I’ve tried.
First, the smell. A very mellow fruity smell with a few stronger notes.
The taste differs even from sip to sip. It has a berry-like sweet side, which is relaxing and calm. But sometimes you can feel something a bit more sour, which adds some hints of citrus.
Overall, a great tea for calm evenings or to drink while reading a book. And the smell is so wonderful that I often smell it too much and the tea becomes cold :)
A tip : it is very easy to oversteep it, so keep the steeping time below 3 minutes, otherwise it may become bitter.
