Great Value

Thanks very much AJRimmer! A freebie and a pleasant surprise for a store brand tea that is hibiscus focused! It’s a pleasant amount of hibiscus and a pleasant amount of strawberry. There seem to be quite a number of other things in this teabag but the flavors stay very true to the name. It is Strawberry. It is Hibiscus. It is what it claims to be. I don’t hate it!

Flavorless, yet bitter. Stay away.

I normally steer clear of hibiscus, especially when hot, but this seemed like a good tea for nighttime. First thoughts were hot strawberry jello, but drinking it it’s really not at all like jello. The hibiscus isn’t tart like I expected and it almost has a strawberry candy flavor. This might be really nice iced. I think hibiscus is much more refreshing when iced anyway. On the whole, I would return to this for a nice cup of herbal tea.

I got a box of this at Walmart for $2, not expecting too much. The flavor is very lightly strawberry. The hibiscus doesn’t take over. I use four bags for a pitcher of tea and drink it cold. It’s a bit weak and fake, but not bad.

I didn’t have much expectation regarding this tea as I bought it on impulse from Walmart. I found myself pleasantly surprised that Great Value put forth a reasonable bagged tea. It’s nothing stellar but it does hit the sweet notes I was hoping for without any sugar (substitute). Adding a bit of sugar draws out the strawberry and cherry notes even more. It doesn’t take much so go light.

I’ve only tried it as a hot brew so I can’t speak for how the flavor carries as a cold brew, but it has a nice scent followed by a flavor that carries through. For a couple dollars this is going to make my rotations of evening bagged teas I keep on hand for when I’m too lazy to break out a loose leaf option.

Not a huge fan of this tea. There’s just something kind of “off” about the flavor. Granted this is my first time trying chamomile tea, so maybe it’s just not my thing.

As a college kid looking for some super-cheap tea, I grabbed this off the Wal-Mart shelf. It’s a very unobjectionable standard – setter that I enjoy quite a lot when I need the caffeine! Great value and does the job well.

For some reason, my whole town ran out of tea — Tetley, Lipton, Red Rose, Twinings, Tazo, and even the ever-present Stash. With our tea stash withered down to herbals and greens, my family got desperate and decided to get a box of Great Value from Walmart.

To be honest, it’s not that bad. Good for mornings when you don’t have time for loose-leaf, and ok for iced tea. Lots of tea dust, though, and my mother didn’t like the aftertaste. If there’s ever another tea shortage in my area, I wouldn’t mind picking up another box — but only if it’s the last choice.

By “Great Value” they mean CHEAP. It’s tea dust mostly. Stems included. If you steep it long enough, you can actually taste the Assam character but you also run the risk of enhancing the bitterness of the stem fannings. Still, this tea is better than Lipton. I picked it up at Wal-Mart. 100 bags for $3.26 US.
