Georgia Tea Company

I got this one from Ost. Today I made a mug of this for my dad. I took a sip and decided to take a bunch more sips before actually handing the mug over…whoops. The flavor is so sweet. It’s light and desserty, slightly nutty. I definitely look forward to drinking more of this!

The smell of this tea is very pleasant from the flowers infused in it. The tea itself has a sweet flavor, and even though it’s a green tea, there is no bitterness to it or a grasslike flavor. I enjoyed it a lot because there was no bitterness to it.

Tea Sipper sent me a bunch of old herbals from the last round of the Here’s Hoping TTB. This is one of them. This is pretty decent. The rooibos is a little sour and a little smokey, and just a bit astringent. The smoke actually works well with the flavoring, so I like it here even though I don’t always enjoy smokey rooibos. The caramel flavoring doesn’t taste especially accurate – mostly a generic sweetness and a buttery aftertaste. I’ll probably use the rest of this for lattes and/or blending.

I’m not a big fan of fruit-mint blends, but I like to try things I don’t expect to like on occasion because sometimes my tastes change, and sometimes a tea is surprisingly appealing despite my expectations. However, it’s not the case this time. This is sour, with a faint taste of raspberries, and a bit of mint. The flavors don’t really complement each other, and it didn’t taste enough like raspberries in my opinion. It wasn’t awful, but it wasn’t especially good either.

Sipdown. This was a nice one — the almond and coconut work great together — but it falls into that category of Sure I Would Throw This In The Cart If It Was Offered By Someone I Was Ordering From Anyway But I’m Not Paying All That Postage For This One Single Tea.

It’s good, but not that good.
So far only Coconut Oolong and Brioche have achieved That level.

Many thanks to Ost for this! I’ve been curious about this one for awhile, almond and coconut sound like such a great combination :) The coconut here tastes very natural and nutty; the almond tastes like almond extract, but it is well-balanced here, so it’s not the major problem it was in, say, David’s Sweet Almond Green. While the base tea stays in the background, it is a nice smooth background and works well with the added flavors.

I’ve tried several teas that were advertised as almond cookie teas, but this one come the closest by far to actually tasting like an almond cookie. I’m a fan :)

An interesting chai… but I feel like it’s missing a good deep chai taste. Plus there is absolutely no pumpkin… But I do like the spiciness of it. But that’s about it…

Blow my Ming great tea! It tastes like great green tea with exactly an almond cookie flavor! I added a touch of rock sugar and cream. My new favorite and kudos to The Georgia Tea company!

Coconut in tea can be hit or miss. Sometimes it can taste too artificial and mess with the rest of the tea. This tea has a nice woodsy base that lingers long after the coconut. The coconut flavoring is ok but I feel like it’s just not as good as other coconut black teas i’ve had. This is from the Monthly TTB.

This tea is nothing more than hot leaf juice. Well, also artificial coconut, which doesn’t help. I tried 52teas’ Coconut Creme Pie earlier and decided to compare these two. This definitely loses that contest. Less flavor, more artificial, and the base is just a touch bitter (although, to be fair I did oversteep it, so I’m surprised it’s not more bitter). And yes, that first sentence is from Avatar: the Last Airbender. We introduced it to CarLord recently, and he liked it enough that all cartoons are now called “A’atar”. So adorable. And Iroh is definitely one of my favorite characters. It’s nice to have a character that appreciates a fine cup of tea. After the watch through, I finally decided to look and see if I could dig up some good fanfiction. I’ve found a few that are true gems. Including one that’s a crazy-awesome crossover with Stargate SG-1, and one by an author who must be a major history buff and can really get inside the heads of people from cultures with fundamentally different values. That’s always a fascinating, if unsettling experience. It really forces you to think through your assumptions of the world and how our personal beliefs can be bolstered or skewed by the beliefs of people we come into contact with. It’s a fascinating read, although some of the deviations from canon do trouble me a bit. As well as some of the possible implications of canon events. End of long, rambly tangent.

Uhh yeah…not really my thing. xD Not sweet but pretty fruity. :S It’s too weird of a combo for me! Plus if it makes you lose weight my mum would be strongly against it. Apparently I’m underweight, soo this is clearly not the tea for me haha!

A really tasty tisane. I love that the base is both rooibos and honeybush. I love this combination. They seem to bring out the best in each other when they’re brought together in a blend like this.

The nutty, sweet notes are a nice base for the bright, sweet-tart notes of raspberry. The raspberry is a strong flavor.

This is good hot, but I liked it even better after it cooled, which suggests to me that this would be a really yummy iced tea.

This was a surprise bonus sample that Veronica included in our swap. How did she know I love blueberry? There are some decorative blue flower petals and a few dried blueberries mixed in with the red rooibos base. I didn’t get much scent from the dry leaf, perhaps a little bit of tartness but not much else.

The steeped tea smells like blueberry jam, but there’s also some kind of weird musty aroma. Hm, this tastes odd. There’s barely any blueberry here, but it is a jammy sort of blueberry. There’s also an artificial dessert-y flavor, like it’s meant to be a blueberry muffin or pancake tea. The rooibos tastes odd, not sure if it’s the rooibos itself or the age of the tea. I can taste mild woody notes, but there’s a strong musty presence that’s a bit offputting. Not for me. I guess I’ll withhold a rating since I’m unsure of the age of the sample.

Overboard TTB

I was looking for an herbal of some sort today and found this. Another reviewer stated it had orange, vanilla, and cactus in it. I can’t actually confirm what is in it. It is a somewhat confusing melange of flavors with the orange slightly beating out the others. In all honesty, it’s not that great. At least it doesn’t have caffeine as I have jury duty tomorrow. I would rather do anything else but drive out to Riverhead on my day off for Jury Duty. Couldn’t those idiots schedule it when I have to work.

I brewed this once in an 18oz teapot with 3 tsp leaf and boiling water for 5 min.

A light minty tea…Nothing really special here. Pretty basic. xD But it’s a herbal, so it’s nice to be able to drink a minty tea before I sleep! Thanks for the sample, Albertocanfly!

Got a late, unexpected Christmas package from the lovely Albertocanfly today!
She sent me some of this tea which i was excited to try. I love kiwis, and strawberries are pretty good in tea form. Not really a fan of real strawberries anymore even though I loved them as a kid. Think I had too many sour ones so I stopped eating them.
But I’ve found that strawberry flavors in tea is actually really good. In this tea the strawberry flavor is super sweet and present. Very in-your-face. Which I like!
The kiwi on the other hand is the sour one. 0_0 Like super sour. The kind of sour only Warheads should be. xD
For that reason, I do not like this tea. Strawberry and kiwi would make a great mix, as long as neither of them are sour. It was so close to being good, but just not close enough! D:

This tea has a lot going on. It’s a white tea, a green tea, a rooibos and an herbal. But these all work very well together. It’s tasty.

The lavender is a lingering presence in every sip but it isn’t so strong that it ends up tasting soapy and I really like the way the lavender and the blueberry play together. It’s a nice flavor combination.

A nicely crafted blend. Sweet and nutty from the rooibos, a fresh and pleasing brothy texture from the teas, beautiful notes of lavender and sweet-tart notes of blueberry. The currant is especially noticeable at the tail and brings a little more tartness for contrast.

A really nice cuppa.

Did not taste the cherry except for a vaguely fruity flavor. The rooibos overwhelmed the almond so this wasn’t an exceptional cup. Rather mediocre.

Overboard Traveling tea box

I totally over-did it on tea the last couple of days. Acid reflux from hell. Poo. Anyway, I figured a little rooibos wouldn’t hurt. This one was odd, unsweetened it doesn’t really taste like anything, sweetened I’m getting a faint creamsicle taste but it’s not obvious and could easily be confused as just sweet. Back in the box it goes.

Teeny Tiny TTB Round 2

Another fruity black tea. This one is definitely the dregs of the package, and the leaves are extremely broken. There are small pieces of something lighter, perhaps flower petals? Dry scent is surprisingly strong and sweet. I pulled the basket out about 15 seconds early, just because I was worried about it getting bitter due to the broken leaves.

The steeped tea smells sweet and jammy – perhaps a combination of blueberry and blackberry? (I admit, I’ve never had a black currant) The flavor is extremely light, for both the base tea and the black currant, probably because I kept the steep on the short side. At least it’s not bitter! The black currant that is there tastes nice, and kind of reminds me of blueberry with a slight herbal note. Not bad, even if it came out a bit weak.

I’m not really getting anything from this other than a mild, slightly sweet rooibos. It’s not too bad for a rooibos, but I’m not tasting the flavors other people have commented on.
