Iced Latte!

This afternoon is all about the matcha, with a delicious iced matcha latté made using this Okumidori cultivar matcha paired with some matcha cookies and a matcha truffle!! Even before adding the milk, this was an incredibly rich and milky tasting matcha with a fresh, sweet flavour very similar to devonshire cream. Smooth, with a bit of a “melt in your mouth” cooked milk flavour and nuttiness. The finish is a bit more umami, but ultimately I just really like this as a more dessert-leaning pure matcha profile. So well suited for lattés!!

I picked up a new matcha bowl during the festival, so I took it for a spin on Monday with this straight matcha sample I’d kind of forgotten about. I loved the bowl and the matcha was actually great! It’s an incredibly fresh, creamy and light tasting matcha with a full bouquet of aromatic floral and crisp vegetal notes!

Started yesterday morning with this matcha that was kindly gifted to me! This is definitely one of the most buttery tasting matcha cultivars that I’ve tried and the rich creamy texture and refreshing crisp vegetal flavours and fleeting hint of nuttiness are just so perfect for this rainy morning that feels like it’s maybe starting to single the first hints of Spring! With just a hint of astringency to balance out the very indulgent buttery richness, it’s an overall delicious tea! Also, I would be remiss to not acknowledge how wicked fast this arrived! Seriously; the original shipping quote on tracking predicted these samples would arrive on the first of March and, well, here I am whisking up my matcha nearly two weeks earlier…
