Bag Ladies Tea

Used two teabags for 14 oz this time and sweetened with honey for a decent cup of tea. Still enjoying the quotes, but would not recommend the tea. “People say that life is the thing, but I prefer reading.” —Logan Pearsall Smith and “Never judge a book by its movie.” —JW Eagan

I used one tea bag for 12 oz of water and the resulting tea was incredibly weak. The tea isn’t that great, but they quotes are fun. I guess it’s a toss up as to whether this was a good investment.

& this was the tea I brought along. I wasn’t getting my hopes up for outstanding flavor, but guess what? This was really good! I don’t know if it was because I was cold and surrounded by a zillion stars and the Milky Way above me, or if it was a truly outstanding bagged tea, but either way…I enjoyed every sip! Good, classic tea flavor with milk and sugar, and one bag made a flavorful cup even in my 10 oz mug. I have no idea how long I steeped it for, but I must have hit a sweet spot because it was not bitter at all.

I would not hesitate to drink this if I was feeling lazy at home, and I will definitely bring them on future trips!

Nothing new to share except today’s bag tag: “The only problem with new books is that they keep you from reading the old ones.” Yep.

Cold, ice, snow, and mid-winter blahs have also influenced my tea preferences, so I’m not wasting good tea on a bad attitude. Just hot basic leaf. Today’s quote on the bag tag: I cannot live without books—Thomas Jefferson.

There is hope … just praying I can dig it out from under a foot of thawed and re-frozen bleccccccch!

A nice surprise … left the bag in longer than usual while schlepping around getting ready for work, and the resulting brew was dark and fruity tasting—a little currant-y even. Which made me wonder first if I’d actually remembered to wash out my tumbler and I was getting previous-cup residue. Nope.

So the resulting taste treat made up for the “meh” quote on the bag tag this time: Read books. They’re good for us.

This morning’s quote on the bag tag: “My home is where my books are.” (Looking forward to spending some time there this weekend.)

Still a fair-to-middlin’ morning breakfast tea requiring no preparation thought whatsoever.

This was a get-well treat from one of the most well-read people (and one of my favorite people) on the planet. The tea itself is basic black English Breakfast tea, nothing unusual about it, but I am grateful for the thoughtfulness and enjoy the quotes on the tea tags. This morning: “Books had instant replay long before sports.”

I finally found some more Novel Teas and have been using my nifty new ice-maker to make delicious cups of 1/2 iced tea with 1/2 lemonade. I brew the iced tea in a normal tea cup with 2 bags of tea in about 8 oz water. The tea is strong enough to hold its own against the lemonade and is refreshing enough for the most obstinately hot of summer days.
Unfortunately, I have been in the middle of moving for several weeks now and my tea consumption has been reduced to this or Twinings. I cannot wait to get back to my ‘serious’ tea tasting, and perhaps even order myself some new teas once I finish off some of my remaining ones. I’ll just have to keep that in mind until my kitchen gets sorted out.

I don’t know if its just because of the sayings, but I think this is an excellent bagged tea. If I do have to have a bagged tea, I would go with Novel Teas or mighty leaf, and perhaps a few kinds of Twinings, but that’s it. Unfortunately, I am all out now, and don’t know where to find more!

Well the funny thing about me drinking this tea now is that im having a fight with my boyfriend at the time i drink it, so at the point of the discussion in which you want to explode, suddenly i turn to my tea cup looking for a answer and i see the tea tag that says “anyways shaving was terrible” and i started to laugh so much i forgot why i was mad.

Besides all that the tea is good, i had taken other black teas a little stronger but this one is good, i liked it quite much and i recommend to buy it for its good flavor but also for the funny tea tags

The first thing I noticed was the smell—very strong vanilla scent! Despite the Ceylon, which I normally cannot drink on its own, the Rooibos and flavouring make this delicious enough for me to gobble it up on its own. The little sayings on the tea tags are added fun too. I like having this in the afternoon or when people are over, I haven’t served it to someone who didn’t like it! Makes a beautiful deep red cup.

If you’re on a diet, don’t sniff this tea. It smells strongly of almond cookies. It’s a mild and mellow dessert tea or a tea to help ease cramps. If I’m not careful my Mom will polish it off before I get the chance. I wonder if other tea companies do a chamomile and almond mixture.

The “witty” tea tag and silly tin failed to distract me from the fact that this black tea was mediocre at best. It reminded me of those motel room tea bags of non-specific origin. Sure they’re tea, but they’re the tea nobody else is willing to use.

Still, this one got a few points for not being horrible. And maybe there was something amiss with the sample I received. If I try this one again and find that I was wrong, I’ll revisit my review.

I’m nursing this tea along, waiting for special moments to enjoy it. The other night, I thought I’d go Indian and have a medium-spiced vegatarian curry and wash it down with this Ceylon tea. The flavors in my mouth when into some sort of Taste Deathmatch. Boy, did they wrestle and bounce each other around! But in the end, the tea won out over the curry. Granted, my curry was nowhere near vindaloo-hot, but I think I may save this tea for drinking by itself in the future.

Since time has dragged by kicking and screaming to my 40th birthday, I decided to console myself by getting 2 teas from Bag Ladies’ on recommendation from Jillian. The package arrived the day before my birthday. I unopened it and pulled out the lovely canister and noticed there was a tea bag tag and string dangling outside the canister. The tea bag contained a quote from Peter Gabriel, my favorite guy. Inside, the other bags were all sealed in a plastic pouch. Nice touch - and, quite possibly, the nearest thing I’ll ever get to getting a B-day greeting from Peter Gabriel.

Anyway, what about the tea? I made myself wait until my birthday to have a cup. It’s Ceylon black tea and is really smooth and flavorful. It’s the kind of flavor that goes all the way down into your toes. Rock on!

Last tea of the night, I promise. ;)

I’m not tasting the sweetness very much this time for some reason. Ah well, it’s still a great bedtime tea.

BTW I put a bunch of teas I don’t want on the ‘Take It Away’ thread on the Discussion Board. Some of it’s been claimed, but there’s still some left. If you’re curious go have a look and see if anything catches your eye. :D

It’s an excellent dessert tea and with a splash of milk it’s smooth and creamy.

I accidently let this oversteep, but all in all it’s a pretty hard tea to ruin as it turns out. The flavour of the rooibos was more prominent, which I wasn’t too fond of, but the lovely vanilla-caramel flavour was still there.

BTW the tag on the teabag (each one has a different quote) was: “Friendships are like snowflakes – there are never two alike”

Angrboda’s long post about caramel tea made my mouth water for some aswell. This tea, unfortunately, doesn’t have little tasty bits of caramel in it to nom on. le sigh

I had to make myself another cup of this. Caramel and vanilla, mmmmm.

This got lost for a little while in the back of my tea cupboard which is a shame since this is one bagged tea that doesn’t deserve to languish in obsquerity.

It’s sweet enough to almost be considered a dessert in its own right, and that’s without any sweetener – it doesn’t need it! But I don’t find the caramel and vanilla to be artificial tasting like a lot of ‘flavorings’ are; you could close your eyes and imagine easily caramel syrup and real vanilla whipped cream in this tea as you sip at it.
