Why did I wait so long before ripping into the samples that Ashley sent to me? I was inspired by my Italian High Rennisance art history class, so I decided to try this one first. I brewed my small two cup pot and sat down with my copy of Beowulf to go with the tea.

The tea brewed up to a nice light honey color. At first, I wasn’t sure what I was tasting because it didn’t taste as strong as the teas I am used to. The flavor is very light. Once I relaxed I tasted the hazelnut. Light, nutty, slightly bitter and sweet at the same time. Then a small hint of chocolate drifted in with the black tea. Then I was getting a nice cream taste with all of the other flavors even though there was no cream in it. By the time I had finished my first cup I learned how to taste my tea.

I sweetened the second cup with a little bit of honey because I wanted that rich dessert taste. The honey brought out the chocolate more and the whole cup smoothed over. I was going to ask my roommate if she wanted a taste, but I wanted to drink this all on my own. The flavors are very balanced and I enjoyed every drop.

My only regret is that I only brought half of my samples to school with me. Granted, I did that on the request of my boyfriend so he can share a pot of each flavor with me when I get home, but I still wish I had brought it all for myself. Now I know what a high quality flavored tea is like.

My friend dragged me out with her so I could watch her horseback ride and made me miss lunch. To make up for it (and since I really wasn’t that hungry anyway) she treated me to Starbucks. I have been craving matcha recently and this is the only place that I can access it easily. It might not be the creme de la creme of matcha, but it is still tasty!

Hot with milk. Still yummy. I had to drink some more tea to get me off of my must-have-more-chocolate-mate withdraw that I was having from my last cup of tea. And it is such a nice way to end a meal.

I was nosing through my professor’s tea basket today after class and saw this tea. In the middle of sniffing it, she encouraged me to take some for the road since nobody else was drinking it. This was one of the teas that I have been wanting to try, so I plunked it down in a little Styrofoam cup and brewed it on the spot.

I think I brewed this around 6-7 minutes while I was walking to my next class. The water was at a lower temperature than normal, so I figured a longer steep time wouldn’t hurt it. I drank it hot and plain.

This was my first time trying a mate. I’m still not sure what to expect from one, but I could feel the effect it had on me. I was a little drowsy after class and I knew I would be in danger to not pay attention in my next class. After I drank this I was alert, barely doodled, and took more notes than normal. Considering that this was my last class of the day, the tea perked me up.

The chocolate is subtle. I saw the cocoa powder falling off of the bag when I put it in my cup. The bag itself smelled like dark chocolate hot cocoa powder. I get the taste of the cocoa in the back of my throat and on my tongue during the after taste more than when I was drinking the tea. The taste of the tea was light and reminded me of mocha. Only without the aftertaste of a bad espresso that most coffee drinks leave me with.

I can’t wait to go back to my class to get more of this tea. If I had it in my personal stash, I would have drank at least two cups of it today. This is a tea that I would recommend and that I plan to pick up in the future. I also have plans to try different types of mate.

I have been recovering from gall bladder surgery and then I got hit with a head cold while recovering. I can’t really taste anything. I have been needing something hot with sugar or honey.

I hope I feel better soon. I’m tired of being sick.

Well, I fell off the tea wagon for a while. But now I am back on only to discover that I left my tea ball at school! No! I think my mom had one laying around somewhere, so I’m going to look for it and ask.

Wow, I was away for a very long time because life and school dominated for a while. But I am back with tea samples that Ashely sent to me. Thank you! I can’t wait to try them.

I had my first cup of tea (in a long time) today at lunch. I am glad I did. I was feeling stuffed up and it made me feel better.

After having a full tumbler of Irish Breakfast, I decide that the tumbler full isn’t enough tea for me. So, I brew up a tumbler of this to sip on when I am doing my paper. It is really mild and gentle after the Irish Breakfast. I put a little bit of milk in this tumbler, but it doesn’t really need it like the Irish does. I just like how it tastes with it in. So, I will be sipping on this for the rest of the night.

Hot with milk. I forgot how much of a punch this is. I decided to have a tumbler for dinner and it is strong. The Assam really makes you wake up and pay attention. It was yummy. I will have to make this my breakfast tea on Tuesday and Thursdays.
